Joey Sherman

Probably few people can boast that they received degrees from two different colleges in the same month, but Hinds alumnus Joey Sherman can.

Sherman, a Terry High graduate, attended 黑料网 from 2005 to 2007 but did not graduate before transferring to Mississippi State University to finish his degree in civil engineering.

A member of the Hinds golf team, Sherman said his experience at Hinds was so good he wanted not just an MSU degree but one from Hinds as well.

鈥淚 really enjoyed my time at Hinds,鈥 Sherman said. 鈥淚 met lots of new people there and established friendships that I continue to have today. The fact that it was so close to home made it even better because it allowed me to make a smooth transition from high school to college.鈥

The quality of instruction, caring teachers and small class size – coupled with the opportunity to save money by commuting from his home and drawing on scholarship dollars – all made Hinds a great choice for him.

Now that alumni can 鈥渢ransfer hours back鈥 to Hinds from universities they鈥檝e also attended, students like Sherman can still earn their Hinds degree. In December 2011, Sherman did just that, transferring 32 hours back to 黑料网 for his associate鈥檚 degree at the same time he earned a bachelor鈥檚 degree from MSU.

Now he works as an engineer for Entergy鈥檚 Grand Gulf Nuclear Power Station in Port Gibson.

Other alumni who are interested in following in Sherman鈥檚 footsteps can contact Ann Travis at 601.857.3214 to find out about earning their degree from 黑料网.聽
