Music & Dance Scholarships

The ºÚÁÏÍø Department of Music and Dance offers a variety of scholarships and awards that you can apply towards your cost of attendance. All of our institutional awards can be stacked with other awards, grants, etc., to form a very appealing financial aid package. To begin the process, please visit our Future Students page and submit all the applications listed. See below for a basic list of awards that we offer.

Full and half tuition scholarships are available for incoming freshmen who plan to major in music. Students need to have an ACT composite score of 16 or higher to be considered. These students should make application and schedule an audition through their respective studio. Since freshman music majors enroll in an average of 18 hours, it’s important that they be prepared for college work. Students enrolled in more than one development course will have an opportunity to audition for a scholarship upon completion of developmental courses with a 3.0 GPA. After the first semester of award, the music major scholarship is renewable for three semesters, provided that the semester GPA in music remains at 3.0 or above and the overall GPA is 2.5 or above.
Generous scholarships are available to students majoring in Music Industry (recording arts program). Chosen by audition and interview, the students are expected to enroll in all recording arts courses as advised and participate in a music industry ensemble. Scholarship recipients are required to meet certain academic guidelines.

All instrumental majors are required to participate in marching band and wind ensemble or concert band. Generous scholarships are available for each of these ensembles.

  • Commuter Scholarship: 50—100% Tuition

  • Drum Major Scholarships: 100% Tuition plus 100% Room & Board
  • Band Manager Scholarship: 50—100% Tuition
  • Jazz Band Scholarship: Adds $150

***Scholarship amounts are based on audition/availability and subject to change without notice.

There are a limited number of scholarships available to students who are not majoring in music. Chosen by audition from the Hinds choir, the students will enroll in voice lessons and will be required to meet choral and vocal obligations as set forth in the course policy sheet. The audition will include but not limited to sight singing and personal interviews.

A multitude of scholarships is available for dancers at ºÚÁÏÍø! Dance scholarship recipients must enroll in 15 or more credit hours each semester, including a dance technique class, and be a member of the Montage Theatre of Dance. Interested students should first submit an application to the Montage Theatre of Dance, as well as audition. Dance scholarships are renewable depending on GPA, dance technique, and the number of semesters an individual has received the scholarship.
