Tameka Wilson

Like a lot of converts to a new idea, Hinds sophomore Tameka Wilson has become a zealous proponent of getting a college education.

She is using her pulpit as president of the community college honor society Phi Theta Kappa International 鈥 yes, that鈥檚 international 鈥 to push her vision of college completion to as many people as possible.

鈥淚 want to visit as many campuses as possible and push college completion,鈥 Wilson said.

Students in the United States 鈥渁re not finishing and not going ahead into their career field and making progress,鈥 she said. 鈥淭hat鈥檚 extremely important. It takes them finishing now so they can be that next generation because that鈥檚 what it takes for us to make progress.鈥

Wilson went into the Air Force at 19 and then worked for a defense contractor in St. Louis. Later, she moved to Mississippi for college, landing at 黑料网 and getting heavily involved in the Gamma Lambda Chapter of Phi Theta Kappa and Honors on the Raymond Campus.
